  • What is an integration program?

Great question! It’s a term a&b coined for its programs (maybe we should trademark it). We’re not an accelerator or an incubator, we’re something different and new! It’s a virtual program focusing on technology integration between Financial Institutions and/or Mobile Money Providers and third-party Fintech solutions.

FinForward allows participants to test different Fintech solutions at once under a secure, controlled environment while ensuring secure, scalable, product-ready, painless technology integration to Fintech solutions. All of this is possible by plugging into 4wrd, a&b’s proprietary platform powering FinForward! (links to 4wrd on a&b website)

  • What are internal technical requirements for participating FIs and MMPs?

Good news! There are no technical requirements other than being able to integrate to REST or SOAP APIs. That’s the power of 4wrd!

  • What tech resources do I need to deploy as a participating FI/MMP?

FinForward is a cost-effective solution for FIs and MMPs that want to accelerate their digital transformation process. FinForward does all of the heavy-lifting for your institution! This means that our technology team will cover approximately 80% of the work involved with technology integration. On the side of the financial institution, we mainly need a knowledgeable resource in technology to provide guidance about the technology architecture.

  • How does FinForward ensure the quality of participating Fintech companies?

Applicant Fintech companies go through a rigorous vetting process by the a&b team. We scout a universe of Fintech companies worldwide, and invite them to participate in FinForward. Then, we evaluate all the applicants’ business model, stage of development, technological readiness, and technological architecture. We also determine whether Fintech solution is compatible to operate in the African region by assessing which Fintech solutions support multiple languages, currencies and are not limited to a specific geographic market.

Lastly, we present a curated selection of Fintech solutions to each participating FI/MMP that address their particular problems and/or opportunities of interest (from the problem statement assessment). Participating FIs/MMps then choose which Fintech solutions they want to integrate with.

  • What is the Fintech Opportunity Scan?

FinForward first assesses the pressing problems and opportunities that participating FIs and MMPs face in Africa to find suitable Fintech solutions worldwide that can add value to their organizations. We call this a ‘Fintech Opportunity Scan’.

FinForward will then match participating FIs and MMPs with Fintech companies addressing the problems and opportunities they selected. Participating FIs and MMPs can select more than one problem and/or opportunity of interest.

As a result, participating FIs and MMPs get to test customized Fintech solutions that address their particular needs.

For example, a participating FI is seeking for Fintech solutions that could enhance their customer authentication process. FinForward will then present the FI several Fintech companies from the applicants pool that address their specific needs to choose from and integrate through 4wrd.

  • What does the Matching Process entail?

FinForward first assesses the pressing problems and opportunities that participating FIs and MMPs face in Africa to find suitable Fintech solutions worldwide that can add value to their organizations. We call this process ‘Fintech Opportunity Scan.’

Once the FinTech Selection process is completed, we present a curated selection of Fintech solutions to each participating FI/MMP addressing the problems and opportunities they selected on the Fintech Opportunity Scan for them to pick from and integrate with.

As a result, participating FIs and MMPs get to test customized Fintech solutions that address their particular needs.

  • What happens after FinForward?

FinForward doesn’t have to end! We believe in building long-term relationships and partnerships. We encourage participating FIs and MMPs to continue using the Fintech solutions they integrated with even after the program is over.  Participating FIs and MMPs have several options upon program completion:

    - Renew your 4wrd subscription to continue integration after program ends.
    - Enter in a one-on-one relationship with Fintech companies without using 4wrd as the middleware.

  • What is FinForward’s Discovery Program?

The Discovery Program is an optional, additional program that complements FinForward. It is a 4-day in-person program held at FMO’s Headquarters at The Hague on digital transformation fundamentals for upper management and C-level executives. This program educates business leaders and provides them the necessary tools to design effective company-wide digital transformation strategies.

    At this program you will:

-Expand knowledge on latest technology trends.
-Explore potential solutions and disruptive digital business models tailored to your organization.
-Introduction to  Agile and Design Thinking methodologies. Enhance your organization’s “Client Journey” through digital solutions.
-Reshape your organizational structure to be more conducive of Fintech.
